Here at Pouncival Bengals, our breeding facility is our home. Our cats are first and foremost our pet. Our kittens are born in our bedroom closet. Daily the kittens are weighed and their health is examined. Paul keeps a lovely Google Spreadsheet with all weight measurements which tracks many statistics including daily weight gain and percent change of weight from birth weight. It is quite a detailed spreadsheet and allows us to detect subtle changes in weight gain that could not be visually detected. This allows for close monitoring of their health during their early days.
This is especially useful as it allows our kittens to be used to a pet outside of their mother. This is great for when an adoptive family already has one or more pets within their home. Our cats are totally indoor cats for the time. Soon we will have our back garden enclosed with a Freedom Fence, which will give them ample opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, but still keep safely off the streets. The Freedom Fence⢠system allows your cats to enjoy the full run of your garden and grounds all day, whether you are with them or not, and thus hugely improving the quality of their lives. The Freedom Fence pet containment system is a radio fence and not an electric fencing system. Further information on Freedom Fence can be found on our Links page. |
